Canadian Energy Efficiency Alliance applauds proposed Ontario Home Energy Act
Ottawa- Orléans MPP, Phil McNeely takes leadership role on consumer home protection and energy efficiency
(Ottawa, September 26, 2008) Yesterday, Ottawa-Orléans MPP Phil McNeely introduced a Private Members Bill for first reading that will protect Ontario consumers and educate them on the value of owning an energy efficient home.
The Bill will require anyone selling or leasing a detached and semi-detached home and low-rise multi-unit residential building to have a certified auditor prepare a Home Energy Rating Report. The report must indicate the energy efficiency of the building in accordance with certified standards and provide information on how to improve the rating.
A copy of the Bill may be obtained by contacting the Canadian Energy Efficiency Alliance or Mr. McNeely's office.

The Canadian Energy Efficiency Alliance (CEEA), a broad-based, not-for-profit organization, was established (1995) to respond to the lack of a coordinated multi-stakeholder effort to promote energy efficiency in Canada, leading to enhanced competitiveness and improved environmental protection. The Alliance works in partnership with manufacturers, utilities, governments, builders, labour, consumer groups, and environmental organizations to facilitate the adoption of energy efficiency measures in Canada. The Alliance is supported through fees and project contributions from members.
